Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, la exclusiva de Xbox, lidera las nominaciones en los BAFTA Games Awards de este año, seguido por Astro Bot de PlayStation y Still Wakes the Deep de The Chinese Room.
El juego de Ninja Theory ha sido reconocido con 11 nominaciones, mientras que Astro Bot y Still Wakes the Deep le siguen con ocho cada uno. Entre los más destacados también se encuentra la comedia indie británica Thank Goodness You’re Here, con siete nominaciones, Black Myth: Wukong con seis y Helldivers 2 con cinco.
Otros títulos que han logrado cuatro nominaciones cada uno incluyen Animal Well, Balatro, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 y Lego Horizon Adventures. Sin embargo, los RPG más relevantes del año pasado, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth y Metaphor: ReFantazio, solo recibieron dos nominaciones en los BAFTA, con Final Fantasy excluido de algunas categorías por ser considerado un remake.
En las categorías de actuación, 11 de los 13 nominados han sido reconocidos por primera vez en los BAFTA. Entre ellos destacan Humberly González por su papel en Star Wars Outlaws, Luke Roberts en Silent Hill 2, Y’lan Noel en Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 y Jon Blyth en Thank Goodness You’re Here.
Este año, la ventana de elegibilidad de los BAFTA abarca del 25 de noviembre de 2023 al 15 de noviembre de 2024, con excepción de la categoría Evolving Game. Los remakes solo pueden competir en categorías de artesanía, mientras que los DLC pueden ser considerados en Evolving Game y en algunas categorías técnicas.
Los ganadores se anunciarán en la 21ª edición de los BAFTA Games Awards, que se celebrará en Londres el 8 de abril. La ceremonia será transmitida en vivo en los canales de YouTube y Twitch de BAFTA a las 19:00 BST / 14:00 ET / 11:00 PT.
Jane Millichip, CEO de BAFTA, destacó la diversidad de los 41 juegos nominados, que abarcan desde aventuras narrativas hasta multijugadores en línea. Tara Saunders, presidenta del Comité de Juegos, celebró la selección como un reflejo de lo mejor de la industria y felicitó a los nominados por su esfuerzo y talento.
