Square Enix ha anunciado que Star Ocean: Second Evolution está disponible para su compra en Japón para la PlayStation 4 y PlayStation Vita.
Además de los gráficos mejorados y BGM, Star Ocean: Second Evolution de PS4 y PS Vita añade un nuevo tema de apertura, trofeos, y DLCs que se pueden utilizar como ayudar del juego.
Star Ocean: Second Evolution es la séptima entrega en la franquicia de tri-Ace para Square Enix, entre los cuales se encuentran: Star Ocean (1996, Super Famicom), Star Ocean: The Second Story (1998, PlayStation), Star Ocean: Blue Sphere (Game Boy Color, 2001), Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (2003, PlayStation 2), Star Ocean: The Last Hope (2009, Xbox 360 – 2010, PlayStation 3) y Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (2015, Playstation 3 y PlayStation 4)
